Ford 'Need for Speed' Mustang NASCAR pace car breaks cover [video]



Starring in the Need for Speed movie


Ford has fully revealed the "Need for Speed" Mustang which will be the pace car this weekend for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season finale.




The one-off Mustang is also going to be the hero car of the highly anticipated Need for Speed movie set to reach theaters on March 14, 2014. Before that it will serve as a pace car for the last race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series which is programmed for this Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway where it will be driven by Ramon Rodriguez who is one of the actors from Need for Speed.




Created specifically for the motion picture, this special Ford Mustang wears a wide body kit and rides on bespoke 22-inch alloys. Other changes include a bigger lower front grille, beefy air intakes and low-profile mirrors. There's also a new splitter and extended rocker panels, while the rear spoiler and diffuser were updated to provide better airflow.




Later this month you will be able to virtually drive the special Mustang if you purchase the latest installment in the Need for Speed franchise entitled "Rivals" available on the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.




Ford has also announced the 2014 F-150 Tremor will pace the Ford EcoBoost 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series set for this Friday, while on Saturday the Mustang GT500 will be the pace car for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Ford EcoBoost 300.
