Could be based on the BMW i8
According to a recent report, the jointly-developed BMW-Toyota sports car will be a Lexus LFA successor.
Citing an anonymous source, Motoring says the companies have finally agreed on a model and it will be a two-door supercar with a hybrid powertrain. There's no word on specifications but the website speculates the car could use a BMW-sourced twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 and one of Toyota's hybrid systems.
Little else is known about the car but the source said Toyota is testing the i8 to determine if its carbon fiber chassis could underpin the upcoming supercar.
If everything pans out, the model could cost in excess of $300,000 AUD ($284,730 / €210,960 / £178,460).
