Due in 2015

The Lamborghini Cabrera was seen testing on the Nürburgring throwing out flames from the exhaust pipes while downshifting and also showing the first interior details.

From these latest spy photographs we notice the Gallardo replacement will feature an angled and minimal interior cabin design, while behind the side windows there seem to be two new air intakes. One of them is very small and the other appears to be considerably bigger and incorporated in the supercar's body.

Due most likely in 2015, the baby Lamborghini is expected to feature an upgraded 5.2-liter V10 naturally-aspirated engine outputting approximately 600 bhp (447 kW) sent to both axles through a dual-clutch 7-speed transmission. The Cabrera should have a curb weight of less than 3,306 lbs (1,500 kg) and will receive more hardcore RWD versions for some special editions.

2014 Renault Megane lineup 06.09.2013

Next-gen Megane due in 2015

New details concerning Renault's upcoming lineup modifications have been revealed.

The next all-new model riding on the CMF2 platform co-developed with Nissan will be the Espace scheduled to come out towards the end of 2014, following the Initiale Paris preview concept showcased this month at IAA. In 2015, Renault plans on introducing a new generation of the Megane which will contain more models than the current family. 2015 will also be the year when we will get to see the new Twingo whose styling was previewed by the Twin’Run concept.

Shortly after that, the French automaker will introduce a Megane-based crossover riding on the same CMF2 platform which will essentially be Renault's version of the second-gen Nissan Qashqai. The next-gen Scenic will be more of a flexible SUV but at the same time maintaining its MPV roots, according to firm's design boss Laurens van den Acker.

Another important change is the new Laguna that will be completely new compared to the current generation which hasn't been very successful in terms of sales. The Laguna won't be sold in UK due to a bad sales history while the Escape will have the same fate because Renault says the car hasn't been engineered for right-hand drive.

2014 Lexus RC F leaked?

 2014 Lexus RC F leaked?

2014 / 2015 Lexus RC F purported photo 27.9.2013 / Best Car

Could have a 5.0-liter V8 with 455 bhp (339 kW)

Several purported pictures of the Lexus RC F have surfaced in Japan's Best Car magazine.

While we cannot confirm their authenticity, the images suggest the model will have aggressive front fascia with a prominent spindle grille that is flanked by large air intakes. We can also see a ram air hood, ventilated fenders and IS-inspired headlights. Out back, there's an active rear spoiler and a four-tailpipe exhaust system.

Power will reportedly be provided by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops approximately 455 bhp (339 kW) and 401 lb-ft (543 Nm) of torque. Despite being more powerful than the old 5.0-liter V8 in the IS F, the new engine is expected to be more fuel efficient as it is slated to have a cylinder deactivation system that will turn off four-cylinders when maximum power isn't required.

Nothing is official but the RC F could be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show before going on sale in September 2014.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet spy photo 04.10.2012 / Automedia

Could be launched in 2015

Our spies have already snapped photos of the Mercedes S-Class Convertible but Mercedes' head of research and development has just confirmed the existence of the model.

Thomas Weber declined to go into specifics but Automotive News is reporting the model will be based on the S-Class Coupe and go on sale in the United States in late 2015. While Mercedes previewed an S-Class Convertible with the four-door Ocean Drive concept, the production model will be a two-door cabrio with a retractable soft top.

Engine options will carryover from the coupe so expect choices to include a powerful V12 and an entry-level 4.7-liter V8 that produces 455 HP (335 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. It remains unclear if there will be AMG variants but if there is we can expect the S63 AMG Convertible to have a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 585 HP (436 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque.

Spy Video: Are You the 2015 Mustang GT350?

Posted on 09.26.2013 19:00 by Justin Cupler

We have known for quite some time now that with the new-generation Mustang, Ford will replace the current Shelby GT500 with a new GT350 version. The Shelby moniker will also likely be dropped and replaced by the "Cobra" name.

Until now, everything we knew on the GT350 was pure speculations, but a Mustang fanatic at MustangG6 managed to catch what he claims is the GT350 on open road. If this claim is accurate, than it is the first time anyone has caught the GT350 on video. Even if this is not the GT350, it still bodes well for the upcoming Mustang lineup, because this thing sounds fierce!

There are few details on the new GT350 just yet, but rumors suggest it will drop the current supercharged 5.8-liter, V-8 engine that develops 662 horsepower in the GT500. Instead it will be powered by a 5.0-liter, Coyote V-8 that will deliver about 450 horsepower. Sure, that's a huge drop in output, but it will be more fuel efficient.

No mater what engine it uses, the sound is amazing, so enjoy the video!

Mercedes-Benz is recalling certain 2011-2012 vehicles equipped with clean diesel engines over concerns about a fuel leak.

A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site lists the number of potential affected vehicles at 6,872. The safety recall involves 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class models built from July 2010 through February 2011, 2011 R-Class built from April 2010 through April 2011, 2011 ML-Class built from January 2010 through March 2011, 2011 GL-Class built from March 2010 through March 2011, and 2012 model year S-Class vehicles.

The NHTSA notice says that the diesel fuel filter may leak from around the heating component. Should the diesel fuel leak onto the highway, it could create the potential for a crash. In addition, fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source may cause a fire.

Mercedes-Benz will contact owners of affected vehicles and dealers will inspect and replace the diesel fuel filter, if replacement is necessary, free of charge.

In the meantime, owners of 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, R-Class, ML-Class, and GL-Class vehicles, or 2012 Mercedes-Benz S-Class vehicles equipped with diesel engines with any questions or concerns may contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6371. The safety recall is expected to begin during November 2011.

Alternatively, owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to http://www.safercar.gov. Refer to the NHTSA Campaign ID No. 11V496000.

BMW-Toyota sports car could spawn Z4, 6-Series and GT 86 replacements - report

BMW-Toyota sports car could spawn Z4, 6-Series and GT 86 replacements - report

2014 BMW Z4

Could ride on a flexible and lightweight platform

The BMW-Toyota sports car remains shrouded in mystery but a new report is indicating it could spawn the replacements for the BMW Z4 and 6-Series as well as the Toyota GT 86 / Scion FR-S.

According to CAR Magazine, the two companies are developing a flexible platform that can underpin everything from a small two-seat roadster to a larger sports car. BMW could use the architecture to underpin the next-generation Z4 and 6-Series, while Toyota could use it for a new MR2 and Supra.

Executives from both brands have been coy on details but CAR says the model will have a front rear-mounted engine and incorporate carbon composite technology.

Everything sounds rather promising but sources are indicating there is growing friction between the companies. According to insiders, BMW elders weren't thrilled about the i sub-brand and now they worry that the Toyota partnership could further dilute the Ultimate Driving Machine mantra.

The acronym '4C' draws its inspiration from the brand's glorious past, projecting the values of technology and emotions into the future.

Alfa Romeo hasn't revealed how much power the Alfa Romeo 4C will deliver, but has confirmed that each horsepower will be pushing only 8.8 pounds. If assured 230 to 250 hp engine is utilized, it indicates that we could be looking at a curb weight of just over 2,000 pounds.

The engine will be a turbocharged 1.75-liter unit composed of aluminum and powering only the rear wheels. The powertrain will also feature the Fiat Group's MultiAir technology and a new "scavenging" system that's said to reduce turbo lag.

Lotus dismisses Lexus: Will use homegrown 4.8L V8 for Esprit

Lotus Esprit

Lotus is on the verge of tackling the supercar market with their very own high-powered V8 engine fitted underneath the hood of the future Esprit. The British company has been working on this 4.8L V8 engine at its headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk where engineers have achieved 570 HP at around 9000rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at a bit higher than 3000rpm.

But that's not where the story ends. Lotus Chief Technical Officer, Wolf Zimmermann, says this engine can reach up to 630 HP at 9,400 rpm and 424 lb-ft of torque between 5,500 and 6,000rpm. The V8 weighs in at about 375 lbs, which is about 176 lbs lighter than the original 5.0L V8 Lotus was going to borrow from Lexus. The Lexus engine ended up being too heavy so Lotus engineers took to the drawing table to create their own modular engine. This engine will be matched up with a forged aluminum wishbone suspension and electro-hydraulic power steering. The vehicle will be made entirely of aluminum with hopes of not surpassing 3,220 lbs.

Lotus CEO, Dany Bahar, thinks the future Esprit will be a new icon. He states, "There's a fine balance in acknowledging the greatness of the past while rapidly leaping forward to the future and ensuring that this car not only does the name Esprit justice but also the Lotus brand.

"I think we've managed to find the balance. The design is aggressive. You have to see it to appreciate how low and wide the proportions are, but it still retains a level of dignity, of class and, most of all, exclusivity.

Official: CCG customGT

Official CCG customGT

Tom Gerards, Head of CCG automotive GmbH and creative director of an unique project, has officially released the CCG customGT. The basis for this project is a powder-coated tubular space frame that is made in the USA and re-engineered (homologated) and fine-tuned here in Germany.

The outer skin is made from either fiberglass- or carbon fiber-reinforced composites, and toned by specialists in the U.S. CCG makes adjustments to the car's body. The result is a pleasingly low vehicle weight, which, depending on the equipment, weighs in at only 960kg and 1,040kg.

The engine is an optimized V8 by General Motors, which has its origin in the Corvette. Thanks to its fine-tuning, the seven-liter engine produces up to 550hp. The engine's power reaches the rear wheels via a manually-operated six-gear transmission. The top speed is variable between 285km/h and 320km/h depending on gear ratio and application. Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h is done in less than 3.3 seconds.

The setup features a tubular space frame made of 45 FE steel, double wishbone, spring damper units with performance tuning for street and/or race track and multi-adjustable sports sway bars. Coil-overs were specifically designed by KW suspensions.

Stopping power comes from a MOV'IT six-piston brake calipers 370x35mm in the front / four-piston calipers and 342x28mm at the rear. Teflon-coated flexible stainless steel brake lines were also installed.

A mixture of Alcantara and black leather as well as instruments "borrowed" from the racing sport make up the interior trim. Besides the outer appearance, the entire interior and the engine can be tailored to the needs of the client le.

Upon request, CCG equips the two-seater with an LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) system and converts the vehicle into a racy 300km/h, ultra-lightweight eco-super sports car. The average fuel consumption of the customGT lies by 15 - 20 liters of gas per 100 kilometers. This is equivalent to 50 cents per liter of gas; just 7,50 to 10,00 for 100 kilometers.

In addition, another model, called "competition", is planned for spring 2012. Weighing in at just below 1,000kg and by installing additional motor sports components such as sports chassis provided by KW suspension, MOV'IT brakes with racing pads and a special engine mapping.

Estimated price tag of the base model is: 113,500. Car News, Supercar News - By MR

and has a 90-mph top speed. The plus side is a car with perfect 50/50
weight distribution, well-calibrated electric steering and neutral
handling.Lavrinc traveled 25 hard-charging "journalist" miles and found the car's

Promise to provide savings at the pump

Seat has introduced the Leon Ecomotive and Leon TGI at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

First up, the Leon Ecomotive is a fuel-efficient model that has been equipped with an engine start/stop system, regenerative brakes and low rolling resistance tires. The car also has a reduced ride height, underbody panels and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.

Power is provided by a 1.6-liter TDI engine that produces 110 HP (81 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to average 3.2 L/100km (73.5 mpg US / 88.2 mpg UK) and have CO2 emissions of 85 g/km.

The Leon TGI, on the other hand, uses a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine that can run on petrol or compressed natural gas (CNG). It produces 110 HP (81 kW) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10.9 seconds, hit a top speed of 194 km/h (120 mph) and travel approximately 400 km (248 miles) on CNG alone. When the two CNG tanks are depleted, the model can be driven an additional 900 km (559 miles) thanks to a 50 liter (13.2 gallon) petrol tank.

Audi Quattro concept could be headed for production - report

Audi Quattro concept could be headed for production - report

Audi Sport Quattro Concept debut in Frankfurt 10.09.2013

Could be based on the Frankfurt or Paris concept

Audi's head of design has revealed that the company is still considering a production version of the Quattro concept. However, it might not be based on the Sport Quattro concept that was just introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Speaking to Auto Express, Wolfgang Egger said "We have done one [on the MQB platform] and now we have done the other [on the MLB platform] so now we need to make a decision.”

While both were conceived as a throwback to the original Audi Sport quattro, they used radically different powertrains. The first Quattro concept debuted three years ago at the Paris Motor Show and featured a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 408 HP (300 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. It enabled the car to rocket from 0-100 km/h in an impressive 3.9 seconds.

The Sport Quattro concept, on the other hand, was an eco-friendly performance model with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine and an electric motor. This setup enabled the concept to have a combined maximum output of 700 HP (515 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. In terms of performance, the car could accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, hit a top speed of 305 km/h (189 mph) and consume just 2.5 L/100km (94.1 US mpg / 113 mpg UK).

Next-gen Skoda Fabia will not get the RS treatment

Next-gen Skoda Fabia will not get the RS treatment

Skoda Fabia vRS 02.03.2010

New Fabia due in 2014

A Skoda representative has announced during IAA the next generation of the Fabia will not receive a range-topping RS version.

Skoda board member for technical development Frank Welsh said the current Fabia RS is a car "everyone likes but only a few people buy." Due to poor sales, the Czech automaker has decided the next generation of the Fabia will not be available with an RS version once it comes out sometime next year.

The Monte Carlo package of the current Fabia which has turned out to be a success will be available once the next-gen variant hits the market but probably only with select engines. Expect just about the same level of goodies, such as 17-inch black alloy wheels, smoked headlights and glossy finishes for the door mirror surrounds, roof and wheel arch mouldings.

BMW X5 Security Plus Concept

Posted on 09.10.2013 15:00 by Simona

The production version i8 wasn't the only unveiling the Bimmer had coming at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, as BMW also threw together an X5 Security Plus - a concept specially designed to offer all-round protection against violent assault, kidnapping and organized crime.

The concept features high-performance steel moldings and panels that ensure the best protection, even against an AK-47. There is also a specially developed security glass resistant to attack by blunt weapons, while the polycarbonate coating on the inside of the glass provides effective protection against flying splinters. The concept is also equipped with security-specific components and technologies that help you protect yourself against all kinds of attacks.

Along with the safety features, the new X5 Security Plus Concept also offers excellent driveability, thanks to its V-8 TwinPower Turbo engine with 450 horsepower, and BMW xDrive all-wheel drive.

BMW also optimized the chassis to compensate for the extra heft that installing these security system creates. This helps assure that the security-detail X5 looks, drives and behaves just like a normal X5.

Dodge Charger SRT

Posted on 09.10.2013 18:00 by TomBurkart

A few significant updates mark out the 2014 Dodge Charger SRT, but boy are they hard to find in this old-looking package. An active air intake and modified lifters join new adaptive dampers and finally some wheel-mounted paddles for the aging AutoStick transmission.

The 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 now brings a round 470 count for both horsepower and torque, with a new SRT badge to replace the previous SRT8 labels. This change extends across the entire Chrysler lineup for 2014, where the SRT Grand Cherokee is the first to use a high-torque version of the company's new ZF transmission.

The Charger SRT carries on with the older five-speed automatic, which is one of the only automatic transmissions from any automaker that can send nearly 500 horsepower to just the back wheels. Worth remembering is that this exact automatic is also a fixture on the SL65 AMG and a few other torque monsters, despite lacking a few gear ratios versus Mercedes' new nine-speed auto.

Active cruise control and a few other safety innovations join the Charger SRT for 2014, as does the Super Bee package in a variety of yellow or non-yellow colors. The Super Bee lacks much of the style and tech available on the SRT Premium, which is now a de facto 392 Core with available xenon lights and active mufflers that are not offered on the Super Bee.

Are paddle shifters and the active intake enough to keep the Charger SRT fighting fit versus the Taurus SHO and the forthcoming Chevrolet SS?

Click past the jump for more info on the 2014 Dodge Charger SRT, with info on all its tech and performance updates.

Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 B63S-700 by Brabus

Posted on 09.10.2013 19:00 by Kirby Garlitos

It's hard not to give the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 the applause it deserves because not doing so would probably result in the vehicle jumping off our page and slapping us silly with those two extra tires.

All joking aside, this vehicle really is one for the ages. Adding German tuner extraordinaire Brabus into the equation, makes this one monster ride that will no doubt leave every other vehicle scampering away and cowering in fear by the vehicle's mere presence.

At the Frankfurt Auto Show, Brabus will present its program for the G63 AMG 6x6. You had better find a nice place to hide because if this Brabus-tuned G63 AMG 6x6 finds you looking at it funny, it might just decide to give you a knee-buckling stare of its own.

Give credit to Brabus for taking the time to work on a vehicle like this. Chances are, the company enjoyed working on it so much that Brabus engineers likely "tested" the model extensively.
