Lapped the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 28 seconds

Nissan is moving full steam ahead with the development of the GT-R Nismo as our spies have caught the model undergoing testing on the Nürburgring.

Dressed in heavy camouflage, the GT-R Nismo has a familiar design but is distinguished by a front splitter, a prominent rear wing and a revised rear bumper with additional vents. The model has also been equipped with a sportier suspension and Nismo-branded six-spoke alloy wheels.

While the prototype only managed to lap the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 28 seconds, previous reports have indicated Nissan is aiming for a time of less than 7 minutes and 18 seconds. To accomplish this task, the model will reportedly be equipped with carbon fiber components and a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces at least 570 bhp (425 kW). Nothing is official but speculation suggests this could enable the car to rocket from 0-100 km/h in just 2.0 seconds.

The GT-R Nismo is expected to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show before going on sale sometime next year.
