2014 Holden Barina RS announced

 2014 Holden Barina RS announced

Essentially a rebadged Chevrolet Sonic RS

Holden has announced plans to offer a Barina RS in Australia.

Set to go on sale later this year, the Barina RS will come equipped with an aerodynamic body kit that includes modified bumpers, revised side skirts and a larger rear spoiler. The model will also feature sport seats, a flat bottom steering and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Holden on coy on specifications but the model is essentially a rebadged Chevrolet Sonic RS so it will likely use a turbocharged 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine that develops 138 bhp (103 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque. Regardless of the final numbers, Holden says their engineers have fine-tuned the electric power steering system to better suit local tastes.

The Barina RS will start arriving at dealerships in November and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
