Kia GT4 Stinger designer hints at a possible production variant - report

Kia GT4 Stinger concept [13th Jan, 2014]

Would likely lose the vertical LED headlights and see-through A-pillars

The designer behind the Kia GT4 Stinger concept has raised the possibility of a production variant.

Speaking to Auto Express, Tom Kearns said the car is a "total concept but when we do these cars we have in the back of our minds that if we decide to make it, we don’t have to change it too much.” Kearns went on to say that if the concept is green-lighted, the production model would likely lose the vertical LED headlights and see-through A-pillars.

The chances of production seem slim but Hyundai has a Genesis Coupe which could provide a suitable basis for the GT4 Stinger.

If everything pans out, the car would be positioned to rival the Toyota 86 / Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ and Mazda MX-5. Kearns also said "Pricing has to be fitting for a Kia – it’s a value brand.”
