'Not considering such a step''

Tata Motors spokesman has denied reports about making an investment in Romania.

Contrary to previous rumors, Indian car maker Tata Motors will not be making a 1.3 billion USD investment at an ex-Nokia factory located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. It was believed that once converted to automotive production, this plant would have employed almost 5,000 people.

A company spokesman told Automotive News Europe that Tata is "not considering such a step" which means local brand Dacia won't have a rival breathing down its neck in the near future. While this is good news for Dacia, it isn't for those who used to work at the Nokia factory which was operational for approximately three and a half years.
