Only took 17 years

The three-millionth Audi A3 has rolled off the assembly line in Ingolstadt, Germany.

The model, a white A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI quattro, was given the all-star treatment and will soon be delivered to its owner.

According to Audi, the company single-handedly created the premium compact class which has seen renewed interest thanks to new models like the A3 Sedan and Mercedes CLA.

In statement Dr. Frank Dreves, Board of Management Member for Production at AUDI AG, said “Three million automobiles in the compact class are quite a performance. With the Audi A3, we have created a new brand segment – we have been setting standards in the compact class with innovative technology and first-class quality for 17 years now.”
