Audi Q3 headed to the U.S. - report

2012 Audi Q3 - 12.4.2011

Could arrive in a year or two

According to a recent report, Audi will offer the Q3 in the United States after it receives a facelift.

Set to arrive in a year or two, the Q3 will battle the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA. In order to go on sale in the United States, the facelifted model will receive number of modifications to be classified as a “light truck.” Car & Driver says this will include a new approach angle that meets light truck regulations.

Engine options will likely carryover from the European variant so likely candidates include a 2.0-liter TSFI with outputs of 170 HP (125 kW) and 211 HP (155 kW). We can also expect to see the range-toping RS Q3 which features a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that develops 310 HP (228 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
