Opel has announced plans to introduce the Zafira Tourer 1.6 CDTI at the Geneva Motor Show.

Featuring the company's next-generation diesel engine, the model promises to offer a unique blend of performance and fuel efficiency. In order to achieve this, the 1.6-liter CDTI engine has "closed-loop combustion control" and a BlueInjection SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system which reduces emissions.

The engine produces 136 HP (100 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque which enables the model to hit a top speed of 193 km/h (120 mph). In terms of efficiency, the Zafira averages 4.1 L/100 km (57.3 mpg US / 68.8 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km.

The 1.6-liter CDTI engine will be launched later this year and will eventually replace 1.7- and 2.0-liter diesel engines.
