Audi has disclosed pricing details for the UK-spec RS3 Sportback which kicks off at £39,950 OTR.
About two months ago Audi unveiled the highly anticipated RS3 in Sportback form and shortly after that we managed to find out it will cost €56,600 at home in Germany. Now, the company's UK division has announced the high-powered five-door hatchback will be available on order starting next month from £39,950 OTR.
For this money you will be getting a "world-beating car" as described by Audi which features a "class-conquering engine" in the form a 5-cylinder 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine unleashing 367 HP (270 kW) and 465 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque. All that power is channeled to a quattro AWD setup through a 7-speed S tronic gearbox enabling the RS3 Sportback hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in 4.3 seconds and an electronically-capped top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Upon request, clients can ask Audi to raise the limiter to 174 mph (280 km/h).
It comes as standard with 19-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights (+ daytime running lights) while inside the cabin it gets sport seats wrapped around in Fine Nappa leather upholstery with rock grey stitching. There’s also a flat-bottomed RS steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, Alcantara door inserts as well as gloss anthracite black accents.
At an additional cost, customers can order RS bucket seats which will shave off 7 kg (15.4 lbs) from the car's weight. Other optional goodies include RS3 interior design package with red accents on the seats, air vents, knee pads, seatbelts and floor mats while MMI navigation plus with MMI touch is also available.
Audi UK says they will kick off deliveries this summer.
Check out the attached press release for further details.
Audi has released several teaser images with the Prologue Avant concept scheduled to arrive at next month's Geneva Motor Show.
Basically an Avant version of the Prologue concept from last year, these design sketches could provide a first glimpse at a potential Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake rival. Audi has already said the Prologue concept will influence the company's future designs, starting out with the the A6, A7 and A8 lineups. The long and stylish concept depicted here adopts a low roofline together with Audi's well-known oversized hexagonal front grille and big razorblade five-spoke alloy wheels.
At the front there are matrix LED headlights and beefy air intakes while moving at the back there are interconnected LED taillights, a subtle roof-mounted spoiler and big hexagonal exhaust pipes incorporated in the bumper to provide a sleeker look.
As far as the interior cabin is concerned, it doesn't seem to have any physical buttons as Audi's designers envisioned the Prologue Avant concept with several OLED touchscreen displays that span onto the entire width of the dashboard.
A full reveal is scheduled for early March at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Hyundai has taken the wraps off the 2016 Veloster Rally Edition.
Based on the Veloster Turbo R-Spec, the Rally Edition has an exclusive Matte Blue exterior with 18-inch lightweight RAYS wheels with a black finish. The car also has special badging and "carbon-fiber-look aero accents."
Interior changes are limited but include embroidered floor mats and black leather sport seats with blue accents and "Turbo" lettering.
Power is provided by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 201 bhp (150 kW) and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission with a B&M Racing Sport Shifter.
Speaking of performance, the Rally edition has sportier springs and dampers as well as a stiffer stabilizer bar.
Production will be limited to 1,200 units but there's no word on pricing.
Aston Martin has released the first teaser video of the upcoming Vulcan.
While the video doesn't show the model, we can hear the car revving its engine and then accelerating away.
That's not much to go on but the video seems to suggest the Vulcan is a track-focused model as it appears show to curbs from a race track. That's far from official at this point but we'll learn more at the Geneva Motor Show on March 3rd.

The XK SS is a bit of an enigma in Jaguar history. Based on the Jaguar D-Type race car that won Le Mans in 1955 and 1956, it's not only one of the rarest Jaguars ever built, but also one of the most beautiful. A planned production run of 25 was cut short when a fire broke out in Jaguar's factory in Coventry, England, destroying nine. Most of the remaining 16 made their way to the U.S. Steve McQueen ended up with one and nicknamed it "The Green Rat." He and "The Rat" were such a terror on the streets of Los Angeles that the LAPD Sherriff put up a steak dinner bounty for the officer who brought him in.
Not every XK SS has such an interesting story, but according to Netherlands-based Autovisie, Jaguar might be looking to create a few new ones. John Edwards, the Chief Executive of Jaguar Department of Special Vehicle Operations, says his department's next project could be building the final nine XK SSs that were consumed in the factory fire. He and others within Jaguar SVO are looking at three or four ideas, but the XK SS is definitely a front-runner.
Last year Jaguar SVO announced it would be building six "new" Lightweight E-Types using original specifications and construction methods from 1963. All six have already been spoken for. Like the XK SS, Lightweight E-Type production was also cut short, but for different reasons. Edwards says good stories like this are a requirement for SVO cars. Delivering the final nine XK SSs almost 60 years late would definitely make for a compelling story.

In a rather unexpected turn of events, Ford took the automotive world by surprise in early 2015, when it introduced a host of high-performance models, such as the second-generation GT supercar, the Shelby GT350R and the third-gen Focus RS. They are all part of the Blue Oval's new performance offensive, and harken back to iconic classics from the company's rich motorsport history. Since we've already discussed both the GT and the Shelby GT350R, it is time to turn our attention to the Focus RS, a race-bred hatchback inspired by Ford's WRC-winning RS World Rally Car.
Sure, you're probably ready to point out that the brand-new RS is in no way related to the Focus WRC, which was retired at the end of the 2010 season and replaced by a Fiesta-based rally car, but that's not entirely true. While the Focus may have ended its career as a rally car more than four years ago, its spirit was summoned back to life with more rally-inspired technology than ever, including an all-wheel-drive system. Keep reading to find out what makes the 2016 Focus RS the spiritual successor to the previous-gen Focus WRC.

The BMW 3 Series first set rubber on North American soil in 1977, as the replacement for the 2002, leaving the new model with some pretty large shoes to fill. In 2012, the 3 underwent its sixth generational overhaul, which also began the phasing out of the coupe and convertible 3 Series, that would later become the 4 Series. As we continue through the 2015 model year, the 3 Series continues strong, with its most powerful non-M version being the 335i. With its 300 ponies on tap, it's no surprise that BMW Abu Dhabi saw it fit to customize a 2015 335i and post it on Facebook for all of us to drool over.
This one-off Bimmer features the M Sport Line appearance package and enough custom work to make seeing a duplicate unlikely. Fortunately, the Middle Eastern dealership didn't stop after customizing the body, as it did a little wrench work under the hood, too.

Although Ford is thought to be an "American" company, they are about as global of a company as any other these days. Which means that they have had some cars especially made for the European market that they have not sold here in North America. One of these products is the previous limited edition Ford Focus RS. However, Ford has just announced that their new 2016 Focus RS will be a global car and finally make its way to our North American shores.
Powered by a 2.3L "Ecoboost" turbo four cylinder engine, sourced from the new Mustang, the new 2016 Ford Focus RS will produce "at least" 320 horsepower and "at least" 320 b-ft of torque. Ford decided, thankfully, that the Focus RS will only come in a 6 speed manual transmission, meaning that enthusiasts can now rejoice and stop nagging Ford about the death of the third pedal. It will also have, for the first time, an advanced all-wheel drive system with active torque split and torque vectoring. Ford says that this new AWD system can send up to 70% of the torque to the rear wheels, as well as transferring up to 100% of that torque to one of the wheels if needed. This torque vectoring system is not the brake-actuated system found in other cars, this is a true torque vectoring system using the rear differential to send torque side-to-side where needed. The rear differential uses a pair of multi-plate clutches to send the power to the necessary wheel(s).
On the exterior, The Focus RS gets a new, aggressive front fascia, a big rear spoiler, new lightweight wheels, and a new rear diffuser. Thankfully, it still comes in a five-door, so that you can hurl your passengers around every corner in the space that they deserve.
The 2016 Ford Focus RS sounds like it has all the ingredients needed to be a proper hot hatch, a segment that has been largely forgotten in North America. Like many of the other recent announcements from automakers, Ford will officially debut at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show. No prices have been announced, but expect to pay a hefty premium over the $27,499 CAD MSRP of the Focus ST already on sale in Canada.
If you like driving, the Porsche Cayman is probably the sweet spot in Porsche's line-up for you. This second generation, internally dubbed 981, of the mid-engine coupe has had nothing but praise about its fluid driving dynamics from reviewers and owners alike. Now Porsche has decided to really let the Cayman shine by releasing the new GT4.
The Porsche Cayman GT4 is the most powerful Cayman ever, sourcing its engine straight from the 911 Carrera S. The 3.8L flat six will be making 385 hp at 7,400 rpm, making it 45 hp more powerful than the Cayman GTS. Here is the good bit though: the Cayman GT4 will only be offered in a 6 speed manual transmission. I am in favour of this decision, as the Cayman GT4 should be about the sensation of driving and not strictly about lap times. However, this is also a bit of an odd move, as the 911 GT3 is only offered in PDK. No matter how they came to the conclusion that the GT4 should be only a manual, it only matters that Porsche still has faith in a good old three pedal set-up.
The rest of the car also receives some serious upgrades as well. The suspension is stiffer and lower by 30 mm, it gets carbon-ceramic brakes, a large fixed wing that generates downforce, a sports exhaust, sport chrono pack, an upgraded mechanical limited slip diff, 20in. wheels, and sport seats. So yeah, serious bit of kit then. At 1340 kg, it weighs about the same as the Cayman S.
Porsche claims that the Cayman GT4 has lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7m 40s, which puts it in the neighbourhood of some very fast cars. In fact, it laps it as fast as the 997 GT3.
The Cayman GT4 will be coming to Canada in the 3rd quarter of 2015 and pricing has been announced at $96,500 CAD. Watch for its debut at the Geneva Auto Show later this year.
The Audi R8's design is so iconic that you could be forgiven that the first car rolled off the production line all the way back in 2006. Although it received a mild facelift along the line, it is largely the same car that debuted 9 years ago. Audi has been working on a completely redesigned R8 that will be based on the new Huracan platform Lamborghini has developed. The second generation Audi R8 is supposed to be officially revealed at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show this March, but a short video and images leaking the redesigned car have surfaced on Instagram. They have since been taken down but the images have resurfaced elsewhere on the internet.
This screen cap above is taken from Instagram user dreboog's video showing the car up on the lift with the wheels off and the hood slightly open. There is also a red cloth on the roof, but as you can see, the new front end is plainly visible to the eye. The redesigned front end keeps the new Audi design philosophy and is similar to the new Audi TT that was revealed at the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show. There is a new trapezoidal grille and more squared off headlights. Also to be noticed is that there is the absence of the iconic side blade that was such a distinguishing feature of the Audi R8's profile. Instead there looks to be small side intakes for the mid-engine layout. Although final judgement has to be reserved until the car is seen in the metal, I have to say that the lack of side blades is a bit of a letdown aesthetically. The side blades looked very aggressive and gave the R8 a presence that other supercars did not have.
It is expected that the new R8 will share the same 5.2L naturally aspirated V10 that is in the Lamborghini Huracan, most likely detuned to have less than the 600hp offered by the Huracan. The new R8 is also supposed to be 150lbs lighter than the current car.
