Company boss says "we need lots of derivatives"

Lamborghini’s boss Stephan Winkelmann has revealed the company could soon offer several new variants of the Huracan.

Speaking to Autocar during last weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours event, he said “We need lots of derivatives. Customers expect it and we always need something new to talk about”.

Most likely, first will be a Spyder version, which is expected sometime next year. No details about this car are available yet, but it will probably be nothing more than an open-top version of the standard Huracan with no major design changes.

Next will be a rear-wheel-drive modification. As Winkelmann explains, “we did it with the Gallardo so it might be an option. We are a four-wheel-drive super-sports car (producer) but why should we not do a rear-drive option”.

Autocar says a lighter and more extreme Huracan is also in the cards and could wear the Superleggera moniker.
