Turbocharged Mustang 8-Second Quarter-Mile: Video

The fifth-generation Ford Mustang might have been replaced by a redesigned, more modern iteration for the 2015 model year, but it's still a number one choice for drag racers nationwide due to its traditional - some might say ancient - live rear axle. Fifth-gen 'Stangs can be seen burning rubber at just about any drag racing event across the U.S., but very few of them are as mind-blowing as the one you're about to see in this video. And there's more than one reason for that.

First, the Boss 302 coupe hides a massive, 82mm turbo under its hood, which enables the modified Coyote engine to send a whopping 1,000 horsepower to the rear wheels through a race-spec Rossler transmission. Second, the vehicle is well-camouflaged as a street car, with only the rear drag radials giving away its potential. Then there's the amazing fact that it can run 8-second quarter-miles. If that doesn't impress you, the fact that it's nearly a second quicker than a 1,200-horsepower Nissan GT-R should. Hit the play button to watch it leave its opponents behind as it does a couple of hot 1,320 runs.
