Jaguar announces September 8 reveal for XE

Jaguar XE

Featuring an F-Type-derived front suspension

Jaguar has announced the all-new XE is going to be revealed on September 8, followed by an appearance a month later at the Paris Motor Show.

Aside from disclosing the XE's reveal date, Jaguar has also provided some preliminary technical details for what promises to be a worthy adversary to the BMW 3-Series and other models in this segment. It will adopt an aluminum double wishbone front suspension derived from the F-Type while at the back will be an integral link setup promising to provide sharp response and handling without compromising a refined and luxurious ride.

The 2015 XE will be Jaguar's first model to feature the newest developments in electric power-assisted steering with steering damping. The engineers also worked on improving grip and have developed an All Surface Progress Control that will increase traction of the rear-wheel drive sedan on various surfaces.

Using a lightweight iQ[Al] platform, Jaguar's baby sedan will feature a design derived from the XF and XJ, with power coming from a variety of gasoline and diesel Ingenium engines. Hotter versions are also in the works, one with a V6 3.0-liter and a range-topping derivative packing a 542 bhp supercharged V8 5.0-liter.

Jaguar has announced more details will be offered in the weeks to come before the car's September 8 reveal in London.
