The X6 gets a little brother
Development work continues on the 2014 BMW X4 as our spies have caught the model undergoing testing for a second time.
Dressed in swirly camouflage, the crossover appears to remain pretty faithful to the concept that debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year. Despite the similarities, the production model is slightly more conservative as it drops the aggressive front bumper and rear underbody protection.
Engine options are expected to carryover from the X3, so choices could include:
- A TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 bhp (179 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque
- A TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 300 bhp (224 kW) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque
- A 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel with 184 bhp (135 kW) and 380 (280 lb-ft) of torque
The BMW X4 will be built in Spartanburg, South Carolina and could be introduced as early as the 2014 North American International Auto Show.
