Land Rover Discovery Sport at Halewood factory
Company will invest 200 million GBP into the plant
Land Rover has announced the 2015 Discovery Sport will be built at their Halewood factory.
Set to go into production next year, the model is being billed as the "most versatile and capable vehicle in the compact SUV segment." In order to ramp for production, Jaguar Land Rover will invest £200 ($340 / €250) million into the plant and create 250 new jobs.
According to Jaguar Land Rover CEO Dr. Ralf Speth, "The Land Rover Discovery Sport is the next in a line of exciting new products to come from Jaguar Land Rover. I am delighted that Halewood – and Liverpool – has been selected for this new investment. It is totally deserved, and strengthens the ‘special relationship’ that bonds Jaguar Land Rover to this great city.”
HIs sentiments were echoed by Jaguar Land Rover Halewood Operations Director Richard Else who said “I am delighted to be welcoming the new Land Rover Discovery Sport to Halewood. Its arrival has been a further boost to the region and to our committed and loyal workforce who are all passionate ambassadors for this great company."
