2013 Skoda Octavia RS 12.07.2013
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 130 RS
Czech media is reporting Skoda is currently developing a more powerful version of the Octavia RS set for a 2015 release.
Next year Skoda will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its most important rally car, the 130 RS, and they could do it by introducing a limited edition Octavia RS packing 280 PS (206 kW). Output will probably be provided by a Golf R-sourced 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine but detuned by 20 PS (15 kW).
Unlike the range-topping AWD Golf, the Octavia RS 280 is expected to retain the front-wheel drive layout and will also probably feature a stiffer suspension setup and bespoke alloy wheels.
It will likely be built in limited numbers and should be more expensive than the Octavia RS but still cheaper than the Volkswagen Golf R just like all Skoda models are compared to the equivalent VW.
